Is it okay to remove my safety sensors or disable them?
Since 1993, it has been required to have a safety device in place for an automatic garage door as a precautionary measure. Your door will not be in compliance with the safety standards if you tamper with the sensors by removing or turning it off, so don't attempt to remove them - this also wouldn't be sensible. Your sensors provide an invaluable safety feature to rely on while your garage door is in motion.
What is a carriage-styled garage door?
If you want a garage door that takes you back to the 19th century, a carriage garage door is a good choice. It’s designed to imitate carriage doors that were in fashion around this time. Most of these doors are either made of wood or steel. According to our experts, some swing open, but there are also models which move up, then parallel like a regular overhead door.
How do I prepare my garage door for the cold season?
It is best to prepare your garage door for winter because it is in this season that doors commonly experience a breakdown. We highly recommend garage door maintenance in Fall, before the advent of any potential harsh or extreme weather. You might also wish to consider insulating your door by installing weather stripping along the bottom and edges.
